Future Galway Hurling Superstar!

Jack Hession.......representing school, club and county.

On Saturday evening next our very own Jack Hession has been invited by Galway Cumann na mBunscoil to line out for Galway during half time in the Leinster Senior Hurling Final between Galway and Kilkenny. This exhibition game will showcase the very best primary school hurlers in both Galway and Kilkenny, and we are very proud that Jack has been chosen to partake in such a prestigious game. In doing so, Jack, who is a 6th class pupil in our school will not only represent himself, but also his proud father John, his sister Chloe and also his dear mother Sharon who now rests peacefully in Heaven. He will also represent the Cregmore community, our school, Turloughmore GAA Club and of course Galway. We wish Jack the very best and hope he enjoys every moment as he plays for the first of many times please God on the hallowed turf of Croke Park.

So I met with Jack and asked him a few questions about his hurling career to date.

Favourite Hurler? Fellow Cregmore man, Daithi Burke.

Position on the field? Midfield or Centre forward.

What is your biggest strength on the field? Probably winning the “dirty ball” and striking

Biggest influence on your hurling career? Without doubt, my dad, John.

Best Game you ever played in? Turlough v Gort Under 13. Though they beat us by 4 points I was very pleased with how I played, scoring 2 goals and a point.

What is the best hurling game you’ve ever attended? The 2017 All Ireland Final, Galway v Waterford.

Outside of Galway, who is your favourite hurler? Clare’s Tony Kelly.

Anyone or anything else you’d like to mention? I would like to thank my school coach, Mr Madden for all his support and kindness.
